报告简介

Hyperfunctions, introduced by Mikio Sato in 1959, extend the concept of generalized functions beyond standard distributions. Unlike Schwartz distributions, which rely on functional analysis and smooth test functions, hyperfunctions are defined using algebraic geometry and sheaf cohomology. This presentation provides a gentle introduction to the core concepts of hyperfunctions. We will first explore their intuitive definition as the boundary values of holomorphic functions. Next, we will compare hyperfunctions with standard distributions to highlight their unique advantages, such as the lack of structural restrictions on singularities. Finally, we will briefly discuss their powerful applications in solving linear partial differentialequations and advancing algebraic analysis. This talk requires no advanced background and aims to make these abstract mathematical tools intuitive and accessible.
