Jianlong Chen — Innovative Practices in Teaching Linear Algebra Course

Abstract:

Based on the analysis of the learning situation and pain points of the linear algebra course, this presentation puts forward the philosophy and goals of teaching the linear algebra course. Through innovative course resources, methods, and means, it aims to create a learning community for both teachers and students, achieving maximum teaching effectiveness.

Speaker's Profile:

Jianlong Chen, Professor (Level Two) and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Mathematics, Southeast University. He is a member of the Ministry of Education's University Mathematics Curriculum Teaching Guidance Committee and enjoys a special government allowance from the State Council. He received the first National Textbook Construction Award (National Excellent Textbook Second Prize), Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Special Award Nomination, and the fourth Ministry of Education "Young Teacher Award." The courses he has led have received national-level hybrid first-class courses, national-level online first-class courses (National Quality Online Open Courses), national-level quality resource-sharing courses, and national-level quality courses. As the team leader, he won the first prize for teaching achievements in Jiangsu Province and the outstanding teaching team in Jiangsu universities. In the first National University Mathematics Curriculum Teaching Innovation Demonstration and Exchange Activity, he won the first prize in the finals and a special prize in the provincial competition. Professor Chen was awarded the first prize in the Southeast University Young Teachers' Lecture Competition, and he was recognized as one of the "Top Ten Beloved Teachers" by students. He also received the Teaching Excellence Award in the first Southeast University Outstanding Teaching Awards. Professor Chen is mainly engaged in scientific research in algebra. So far, he has presided over seven projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and two projects funded by the Ministry of Education's Doctoral Fund. He has published more than 180 SCI-indexed papers and authored three academic monographs. He was awarded the fourth Jiangsu Provincial Young Science and Technology Pacesetter and the third prize for scientific progress in Jiangsu Province (twice)."
