The celebrated Fermat’s last theorem, proved by A. Wiles, states that the Fermat equationX^p+Y^p=1has no rational solutions with XY\neq0. We survey on various variants of Fermat-type problems and discuss a recent positive-density non-solubility result for twisted Fermat curves. This non-solubility builds on the distribution of Selmer ranks in twists of CM abelian varieties.
